Название заметки принадлежит С. А. Венгерову. Оно оправдывается тем родом литературы, о котором идет здесь речь. «Макарьевской» называлась известная всей России ярмарка, вначале устраивавшаяся в селе Макарьеве, а позже (с 1817 г.) в Нижнем Новгороде

Начало работы над статьей определяется письмом Белинского к В.П. Боткину от 3–10 февраля 1840 года. В части, написанной 9 февраля, он сообщал: «А дня через два надо приниматься за статью о детских книжках, где я буду говорить о любви, о благодати, о блаженстве жизни, как полноте ее ощущения, словом, обо всем, чего и тени и призрака нет теперь в пустой душе моей». В этой статье наиболее подробно обоснованы педагогические воззрения критика

«…Итак, желаем нашему поэту не успеха, потому что в успехе мы не сомневаемся, а терпения, потому что классический род очень тяжелый и скучный. Смотря по роду и духу своих стихотворений, г. Эврипидин будет подписываться под ними разными именами, но с удержанием имени «Эврипидина», потому что, несмотря на всё разнообразие его таланта, главный его элемент есть драматический; а собственное его имя останется до времени тайною для нашей публики…»

22 января 1841 г., дописывая письмо к В. П. Боткину, начатое еще 30 декабря, Белинский сообщал, что в ближайшее время приступит к работе о Петре Великом, которая особенно волнует его: она «лежит у меня на сердце, давит его и просится вон… <…> Что же касается направления всей статьи, оно ясно: как говорит известное двустишие, которое и будет выводом всей статьи. В России до Петра были тьма кромешная, люди – почти четвероногие; после Петра сделалось светло и люди становятся людьми, – вот и все…»

«…Г-н Греч написал два романа и одну повесть; но мы тем не менее почитаем его совершенно чуждым сферы поэзии, понимая под этим словом искусство, творчество, художество; но это не мешает нам смотреть на его романы, как на приятный подарок публике, как на сочинения, имеющие большое литературное достоинство. Вообще, по нашему мнению, г. Греч не поэт, не ученый, но литератор, по достоинству занимающий в нашей литературе одно из видных мест и оказавший ей большие услуги. Что такое литератор? – Публицист, литературный фактор при публике, человек, который, не произведя ничего прочного, безусловного, имеющего всегдашнюю цену, пишет много такого, что имеет цену современности; не научая, дает средства научаться; не восторгая, доставляет удовольствие…»

«…Остроумному Основьяненку пришла в голову счастливая мысль – сравнить прошедшее время с настоящим, заставив человека прошлого века рассказывать про жизнь своих «дражайших родителей», свое воспитание и про всю свою жизнь. Этот человек – род малороссийского Митрофанушки, и он выполнил задачу автора как нельзя лучше: словно на ладони видите вы почтенную старину, преисполненную невежества, лени, обжорства и предрассудков; видите, как глупый муж бьет свою глупую жену и тузит детей; как глупая мать насмерть закармливает своих милых деток, а детки дерутся друг с другом за всякий кусок, обманывают отца и мать и, выросши, заводят друг с другом процессы и творят друг другу всевозможные обиды…»

Цикл статей о народной поэзии примыкает к работе «Россия до Петра Великого», в которой, кратко обозревая весь исторический путь России, Белинский утверждал, что залог ее дальнейшего прогресса заключается в смене допетровской «народности» («чего-то неподвижного, раз навсегда установившегося, не идущего вперед») привнесенной Петром I «национальностью» («не только тем, что было и есть, но что будет или может быть»). Тем самым предопределено превосходство стихотворения Пушкина – «произведения национального» – над песней Кирши Данилова – «произведением народным»

Определяя историческое место Баратынского в русской поэзии, Белинский отмечает в нем «яркий, замечательный талант», и ставит его на «первое место» среди поэтов, вошедших в литературу вместе с Пушкиным. В качестве положительной черты критик отмечает преобладание в поэзии Баратынского мысли, которая «вышла не из праздно мечтающей головы, а из глубоко истерзанного сердца». Казалось, в Баратынском есть все, чего так не хватало и Майкову, и Полежаеву. И все же поэзия Баратынского во многом не удовлетворяет Белинского

Первые критические замечания Белинского о Полежаеве встречаются уже в «Литературных мечтаниях». Белинский говорит о нем, как о крупном явлении среди «поэтов пушкинского периода», как о «таланте, правда, одностороннем, но тем не менее замечательном». Он отрицательно оценивает переводы Полежаева, его «шутливые стихотворения» и «заказные стихи», но рекомендует читателю те произведения поэта, «которые имеют большее или меньшее отношение к его жизни»

Breaking Bad: Critical Essays on the Contexts, Politics, Style, and Reception of the Television Series, edited by David P. Pierson, explores the contexts, politics, and style of AMC’s original series Breaking Bad. The book’s first section locates and addresses the series from several contemporary social contexts, including neo-liberalism, its discourses and policies, the cultural obsession with the economy of time and its manipulation, and the epistemological principles and assumptions of Walter White’s criminal alias Heisenberg. Section two investigates how the series characterizes and intersects with current cultural politics, such as male angst and the re-emergence of hegemonic masculinity, the complex portrayal of Latinos, and the depiction of physical and mental impairment and disability. The final section takes a close look at the series’ distinctive visual, aural, and narrative stylistics. Under examination are Breaking Bad’s unique visual style whereby image dominates sound, the distinct role and use of beginning teaser segments to disorient and enlighten audiences, the representation of geographic space and place, the position of narrative songs to complicate viewer identification, and the integral part that emotions play as a form of dramatic action in the series

Mais il rechigne un peu à se lier à un journal comme à se livrer à une écriture trop hâtive : « Jamais mon nom au bas d'une chronique écrite en moins de deux heures. » Et cependant, après la publication de « Boule de suif » au printemps de 1880 - il a trente ans tout juste -, sa réputation de conteur change la donne : c'est une rémunération d'écrivain reconnu qu'on lui offre et, l'année suivante, une soixantaine de chroniques paraissent dans Le Gaulois. D'autres journaux accueilleront aussi sa signature jusqu'à ce que, en 1887, il décide de pleinement se consacrer à ses derniers livres. Mais il aura écrit près de deux cent cinquante chroniques, dont le présent volume offre une anthologie ordonnée selon quatre grands thèmes : société et politique, mœurs du jour, flâneries et voyages, lettres et arts. Ainsi se dessine un témoignage capital sur son époque, mais ainsi se construit aussi une part de son œuvre qu'on ne saurait négliger : dans les journaux, les chroniques alternent avec les contes ou les nouvelles, et des parentés de structure ou de thèmes ne manquent pas d'apparaître au point que l'on hésite à faire de tel texte une nouvelle plutôt qu'une chronique.
