Adolf Hitler, geb. am 20.4.1889 in Österreich, unterhielt kurz nach dem Krieg Kontakte zu einer radikal-politischen Gruppe in München, wanderte aber, von der Entwicklung enttäuscht 1919 nach New York aus. Er lernte Englisch, schlug sich als Comic Zeichner, Illustrator und Gelegenheitsübersetzer durch und gab jahrelang das Fanzine "Storm" heraus. In den 30er Jahren war er regelmäßig Mitarbeiter von Hugo Gernsback. Seine arischen Großmachtsträume fanden Niederschlag in seinem großen Epos "Der Herr des Hakenreuzes", das er kurz vor seinem Tod im Jahre 1953 vollendete. Für den Roman wurde Adolf Hitler auf dem Weltcon 1955 posthum der Hugo Gernsback Award verliehen. Norman Spinrad, Amerikaner, Jude und linksintellektueller Kritiker, hat mit dieser boshaften Satire und Hitler-Persiflage aufgezeigt, welche erschreckende Parallelen existieren zwischen dem Faschismus und Rassismus des Dritten Reiches und den zweifelhaften Produkten mancher Autoren. Der Roman, entstanden 1972, wurde 1981 in deutscher Sprache veröffentlicht, doch die erste Auflage wurde wegen "Verherrlichung nationalsozialistischen Gedankenguts" von der Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Schriften indiziert. Der Wilhelm Heyne Verlag kämpfte um die Freigabe des Romans, bis das Oberverwaltungsgericht Münster 1985 die Indizierung aufhob.
