Dowodzona przez Johna „Black Jacka” Geary’ego flota Sojuszu przedziera się przez światy Syndykatu. Wybudzony po 100-letniej hibernacji legendarny dowódca prowadzi ją od zwycięstwa do zwycięstwa zyskując szacunek u wroga, ale budząc też zazdrość wśród swoich oficerów. Dokonał już wielu niebezpiecznych wyborów.
